But it’s never too late to start searching for colleges. I already know what I want to major in, Athletic Training/Sports Medicine, so that helps narrow down my choices. Sure, I would LOVE to play college ball. Actually, it’s what I have been dreaming off since I was about seven! I want to go to college to get an education, not strictly because of softball. Sooner or later, I’m going to have to contact some of these coaches. Technically they can’t talk to me until my first day of my junior year in high school, but as long as I’m on their radar and they know who I am, it should go well from there. I want to think I have a chance in some Big Ten or Big East, or even ACC, schools…but I don’t know yet. Pitt looks good right now, and their sports medicine major looks promising. Seton Hall also looks good.
Instead of worrying about what school first, I have to make sure I sign up for the NCAA clearinghouse. I need to make a video of my hitting, fielding, ect. Most college look for skill, but they also look for behavior and passion. I remember speaking with the University of Penn’s softball coach, and she said she liked my demeanor. I asked her what coaches like her look for, and she said positiveness and a clean player. By “clean” she meant shirt tucked in, head and chin up, few to almost no errors, ect. I strive to be the best I can be, but I know I’ll have to be better.
Road to College Ball is underway!
